BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain has alleged that the murder of Sanaullah was a consequence of presidential pardon to those convicted in the Gama murder case, reports bdnews24.com.
The main opposition will stage protest programmes at Upazila and district levels today (Sunday) and in the city on October 13 over the death of Natore's Baraigram Upazila Chairman Sanaullah Noor Babu.
Delwar declared the programme at a press conference at the party's Naya Paltan office Saturday.
Local BNP leaders also called for a day-long general strike in Natore today (Sunday) in protest against the killing.
Sanaullah, the Bonpara municipal BNP president, died Friday afternoon after being fatally injured in an attack, reportedly carried out by ruling Awami League (AL) supporters.
The clash, which also left 40 others of the main opposition party injured, erupted at 11am Friday when the BNP activists brought out a procession at Bonpara Bazar under Baraigram Upazila, as part of its month-long protest programme.
