BNP Secretary General Khankader Delwar Hossain Sunday demanded that more institutions should be established after the name of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and other Bangali poets.
He made the demand one day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had said that the government would establish a university in the same spirit as that of Rabindranath Tagore's famous Shantniketan University in the Indian state of West Bengal, reports bdnews24.com.
Appreciating the initiative, he said, "We support such initiatives".
The BNP leader also said that people would not accept it if Hasina's government showed a blind attitude towards building institutes after one's own father.
Delwar alleged that the current actions of the government proved that it was no different from the caretaker government.
"They are working as the successors to the caretaker government."
Delwar expressed discontent at how Jubo Dal Leader Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal was stopped at the airport from going to London.
"A democratic government cannot act like dictators," he said.
He said that senior BNP leaders Mir Nasir, Iqbal Mahmud and some others were also prevented from going abroad earlier.
