Denmark for earliest lifting of emergency, general elections later this year

Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Einar H Jensen Sunday said his country liked to see lifting of the state of emergency as soon as possible and holding a free and fair general elections later this year, reports UNB.
"We like to see the lifting of the state of emergency as soon as possible," he told journalists after a meeting with Home Affairs Adviser Maj Gen (retd) MA Matin at his Secretariat office.
Ambassador Jensen, who observed municipal election in Fulbaria of Mymensingh on August 4, praised the holding of the polls in peaceful and fair manner. "I think it was very good and a good sign for Bangladesh general elections later this year," he said.
About Bangladesh's prospects in shipbuilding, the Danish Ambassador, whose country has already placed some orders to buy ships from Ananda Shipyard, said Bangladesh has potential for building big ships and has now emerged as a shipbuilding nation.
He said Danish companies took initiatives a couple of years ago to buy a number of ships from this country. Already Ananda Shipyard has delivered a ship, while two more ships including one named "Stella Maris" are ready for delivery.
Ambassador Jensen expressed the hope that many buyers from other countries would also come to Bangladesh to buy ships from here.
