NARAYANGANJ, Apr 19 (UNB): State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan has said peace is prevailing in the country ahead of the city corporation polls in Dhaka and Chittagong.

He came up with the remarks while addressing a programme for destroying narcotics at the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11 headquarters at Siddhirganj on Sunday.

Concerning the possibility of dialogue with the BNP-led 20-party alliance over fresh national election, the state minister said, "Dialogue is possible. But before that they (20-party) have to shun militancy and terrorism."

Asaduzzaman said the law enforcement agencies have shown great patience while controlling the violence like petrol bomb attacks over the last few months.
