Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said Friday those who fled the country giving bond that they would not continue politics, are distorting settled history, reports BSS.

"Those who fled the country giving bond on condition to give up politics, fearing trial, are distorting settled history. They are coward," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a photo exhibition on a book "struggle for democracy" at the Shilpakala Academy in the city.

Bangladesh Jubo League organised the photo exhibition on the occasion of Sheikh Hasina's Homecoming Day with its chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury in the chair.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, Deputy Minister for Environment and Forests Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, vice chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Professor Dr Pran Gopal Dutta, US Awami League president Dr Siddiqur Rahman also spoke in the programme.

Mr Quader said BNP is now worried over its existence in view of massive development activities being carried out by the Awami League government under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina.

Regarding Narayanganj and Feni incidents, Quader asserted that whoever is found guilty in the Narayanganj and Feni murder cases, will not be spared.

"They will be brought to book and the government already arrested criminals involved in the cases," the minister added.

He urged Jubo League leaders and workers to remain vigil about the BNP's provocative speech on the glorious history and work for development of the country.

Quader said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had brought political freedom but a vested group of people killed him when he was working to bring economic freedom for the people.

He said propaganda has been spreading against the government.

Mentioning PM Sheikh Hasina as more influential among the 100 influential leaders globally, the minister said she is incomparable.

Quader expressed his firm optimism to maintain good relations with India and said that problems would be solved with India through bilateral discussions.
