Civil society rights groups urged the political parties not to nominate loan defaulters in the forthcoming national election, demanding certain declaration over the issue in the political parties' election manifesto.
Besides, they also demanded certain clauses in the election manifesto against illicit flow of money, money laundering, and embezzlement in banking sector.
Some 32 civil society rights groups demanded those at a human chain in front of the National Press Club in the city on Thursday.
Equity and Justice Working Group Bangladesh (EquityBD) in cooperation with Tax and Financial Justice Asia (TAFJA) and Global Alliance for Tax Justice (GATJ) organised the human chain.
There other demands include-the central bank will have to be independent to control banking and financial sector, and there will have a banking reform commission in this regard, people who named in Panama and Paradise papers leak must not be allowed in national election.
They also called for making public the report of the Bangladesh Bank reserve money hacking, share market scam, and bringing those involved in these incidents to book.
Besides, in order to eliminate corruption, they demanded implementation of national integrity strategy at all levels.

Md Shariful Islam of Bangladesh Foundation, Mahbub Khokan of Jatiya Unnayan Parishad, Feroza Begum of Bachete Sheko Nari, Qader Hazari of Aorpon spoke, among others at the event.
