Don\\\'t take trial lightly, ICT warns

September 29, 2014 00:00:00

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) cautioned Sunday the prosecution of war crimes accused Maulana A Sobhan not to take the war crimes case lightly over its documentary evidence which it intends to rely upon in support of the charges made against him, reports UNB.

The three-member tribunal came up with the view during cross-examinations of the investigator by the defence counsel for octogenarian war crimes accused Maulana Sobhan, as it already found contradictions with the documents submitted by the prosecution over the evidence of the detained accused, a front ranking leader of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Pointing at designated prosecutor Sultan Mahmud Simon, the three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Obaidul Hassan, asked him not to take the matter very lightly over the documentary evidence, as the burden of proving the charge beyond reasonable doubt lies upon the prosecution.
