Don’t be a laughing stock by announcing action programme

Dr Hasan Mahmud, publicity and publication affairs secretary of the ruling Awami League (AL), called upon the BNP leadership Monday not to become a laughing stock by announcing movement programme, reports BSS.

“You had announced movement programmes many times in the past but leaders of your party could not be traced on the streets. We know better the organisational strength of your party in regard to launching any movement. So, don’t give us any threat of movement,” he said pointing at BNP leadership while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised by Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity auditorium in the city with its adviser Hasibur Rahman Manik in the chair.

Dhaka City AL organising secretary Shahe Alam Murad, assistant secretary of AL sub-committee Balaram Poddar and Parishad president Md Zinnat Ali were the discussants, among others.

Dr Hasan said the government formed following the January 5 national polls is more powerful than the past as AL came to power through people’s mandate and it has been staying in power with the people’s strength.
