A new draft law for the country's border-security force titled 'The Border Guard Act 2009', providing for punishment from seven years' imprisonment to death sentence for offences by its members, was submitted to the Law Ministry Tuesday.
Major General Mainul Islam, director general of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) which is being reorganised under the new nomenclature as Border Guard after the February 25-26 bloody mutiny, submitted the draft of the Border Guard Act, reports UNB.
