The government will launch a crack down on vehicles without fitness clearance and drivers without licence from November 10, reports bdnews24.com.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges has also decided to start a drive against fraud, 'middlemen' and harassment of service seekers at all Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) offices.
The decisions were taken at a meeting on road safety, transport and other issues at the BRTA headquarters in Dhaka Sunday. "So far several middlemen and frauds who infest the BRTA's office premises have been handed down prison terms and fines," said minister Obaidul Quader after the meeting ended.
