Communications Minister Obaidul Quader Saturday said a coordinated drive to remove unfit vehicles from the city streets will begin next month, reports UNB.
The minister said this while talking to reporters as he was inspecting a mobile court drive by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) at the roundabout in front of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
He called upon government agencies concerned, media and the mass people to extend their support to the drive to remove the unfit vehicles aiming to reduce road accidents and traffic jam.
During the inspection, Obaidul Quader instructed BRTA officials to install a signal system at the roundabout in front of the airport within the next two months to curb road accidents.
He ordered setting up rumble strips near the roundabout, and also shifting the road dividers a bit towards the roundabout, if needed.
