Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon said on Thursday the South City Corporation will be made a service centre for people and it will be open to all, reports UNB.

"The Dhaka South City Corporation will be a service centre for people and it'll be open for all and I don't want to see it from the perspective of party affiliation," he said.

Mayor Sayeed said this while talking to reporters after taking over the charge of the DSCC at Nagarbhanan in the city.

Earlier, Nagarbhaban staff welcomed the new mayor with a bouquet as Khokon entered the office riding a traditional horse cart around 10:00 am.

Responding to a question about the deficit budget of the South City Corporation Khokon said, "I've also heard about it. We'll take a decision about it after a meeting with high officials of the government as soon as possible."

He said a dialogue will be arranged with people from all walks of life about DSCC's problems.

“My father was the mayor of Dhaka and the citizens have found his reflection in me, so I have to serve them,” he added.

Kokhon was elected the mayor for South City Corporation in the Apr 28 polls, when he had secured 535,000 votes.
