Through various events, DU celebrates '104th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 'National Children's Day' on Sunday, March 17.
On the occasion of celebrating the day, this year's theme was 'Bangabandhur Shopno Dhore Anbo Hashi Ghore Ghore '
As part of the event, a discussion was held at the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University. It was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor ASM Maksud Kamal. The Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar were present.
Moreover, before that, on the occasion of the day, wreaths were placed in Bangabandhu's effigy at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum premises in Dhanmandi in the Morning. Besides, a painting competition was held at TSC in the morning under the initiative of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
In the discussion at TSC Auditorium, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal paid deep respect to the immortal memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Dr. Kamal expressed , Bangabandhu protested against any injustice since childhood. Wherever he was, wherever he was, he thought of the people of this country. Giving the people of this country an independent, sovereign nation-state was his life's dream, aim and purpose.
