The authorities of the Dhaka University (DU) temporarily expelled Sunday its four students for their alleged involvement in the abduction of a businessman.
The authority took the decision as per the university's disciplinary action under its proctorial rules 5(2), as the authorities initially found the students guilty, a DU release said.
The expelled students are Srijon Kumar Ghosh and Anup Chandra, master's students of Sociology and Nutrition and Food Science respectively, and Sheikh Abdul Al Mamun and Himel, second year students of English and Management Studies respectively.
On information Friday, Shahbagh police rescued Farhad Islam (25), owner of the Farhad Telecom, from the university's Jagannath Hall.
All the four students are the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and have been landed in jail.
Earlier, the BCL also expelled them from the organisation and asked the authorities to give them exemplary punishment, if they are found guilty.
