DU expels five students linked to Hizb ut-Tahrir

Dhaka University (DU) authorities expelled on Thursday five students for their connection with banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir.

These expelled students are Nure Alam Md Shihab Uddin and Md Syeed Hasan Sojib of Management Department and Tarikul Islam, Nakib Farhan and Md Alamgir Hossain of Accounting and Information System Department.

 In a statement, university authorities said the decision of expulsion was taken as the involvement of students in such activities is a security concern for the university. It said these five students were suspended under the proctorial rules 5(2).

The Commerce Faculty close circuit television (CCTV) footage found them disseminating the party's leaflets among the university students, the statement added.
