Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) will hold a meeting today (Friday) to review the overall situation of the campus and make request to the government again to release its jailed teachers before resuming classes Sunday.
The meeting of the association's executive council will specially highlight the release of the four captive teachers to maintain congenial educational atmosphere at the university after restarting academic activities.
"Releasing the detained teachers is essential for the greater interest of ensuring fair academic environment on the campus after resuming classes", an acting dean of DU said Thursday.
Many of the teachers and students of the university are still gravely concerned that classes may not be held properly if the jailed teachers are not released immediately.
On the other hand, more than half of the total number of students have already come to the residential halls in expectation of attending their classes after a 61-day unscheduled closure of the university.
