EC announces second phase UP election schedule

The Election Commission (EC) announced the schedule of the second phase Union Parishad (UP) election for some 3,813 union parishads with polls starting from May 31 and continuing until July 5 across the country, reports UNB. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dr ATM Shamsul Huda announced the schedule at the EC secretariat Tuesday. Election commissioners M Sohul Hussain and Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain and EC secretary Dr M Sadik were present on the occasion. According to the election schedule, the submission of nomination papers will be held from May 5 to June 9 while scrutiny will be held from May 7 to June 11. Withdrawal of nomination papers will have to be done from May 15 to June 19, the CEC told the press briefing.
