EC completes NCC poll preparations

NARAYANGANJ, Oct 22 (BSS): The Election Commission (EC) has completed all preparations for holding the first Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls in a free, fair and peaceful manner on October 30.
Official sources said 163 presiding officers, 1217 assistant presiding officers and 2434 polling officers will conduct the election at 163 polling centres.
About 403832 voters, including 200868 females, will exercise their right of franchise from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm without any break in 1217 booths on the day.
Of the total voters 1,48,629 will cast their votes through 450 electronic voting machine (EVM) in 450 booths in nine wards.
The wards are 7,8,9,16,17,18,22,23 and 24.
Of the nine wards, three are in Narayanganj Sadar, three in Bandar and three are in Siddhirganj upazilas. The rest 2,65,203 voters will cast their votes through manual voting system in 18 wards.
Closed circuit TV cameras would be installed at 20 polling centres to prevent violence and anomalies in the poll.
