BANDARBAN, Jan 3 (BSS): Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Qazi Raqibuddin Ahmed said today the Election Commission (EC) knows how to make a level-playing field for polls.
"We (recently) conducted elections to Gazipur City Corporation where we proved how to maintain neutrality and create a level-playing field," he told journalists while visiting the district server station of Bandarban district election office.
Asked for comments on allegations of enrolment of Rohingyas in the voters list, Ahmed said voter enrolment in Bandarban and two other hill districts was carried out more cautiously and a special committee was formed to prevent enrolment of Rohingyas as voters.
The CEC went round different rooms of the district server station. He said the EC has taken initiatives to hold the local government polls quickly.
Polls to the union councils would be held very soon and the EC preparations were underway in this regard.
