EC may start updating voter list by June-end: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dr ATM Shamsul Huda said Monday the Election Commission (EC) may start updating the countrywide voter list with photographs by the end of June, reports UNB.
"We may start updating the voter list by the end of June," he told the journalists replying to a question at the National Economic Council (NEC) after attending a workshop on "Voter list Update Programme-2009" organised by the Commission.
Election Commissioners M Sohul Hussain and Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, EC secretary M Humayun Kabir, senior EC officials and district and Upazila election officers, among others, attended the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Huda said: "We need some time for printing the registration forms along with putting equipment in place before going on the updating exercise."
The CEC said the Commission has not yet finalised the time when actually the updating work would be launched but the updating exercise in a particular would be completed within 45 days from the beginning.
