EC to formulate 5-yr work plan

The Election Commission (EC) has taken the initiative to formulate a five-year work plan with a view to bringing transparency and pace in its activities, reports UNB.
In this regard, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the world body's global development network, will assist the EC with necessary financial support. The EC has already started the work to formulate a draft of the plan.
"Work on preparing a draft (of 5-year plan) has already been started. UNDP will provide financial support for this," Election Commissioner M Sakhawat Hossain told the news agency by phone Monday.
He said details would be made public through a press conference after finalisation of the draft.
Sources said that the EC had talks with the UNDP officials on various aspects of its proposed work plan.
According to the EC officials, it will be specifically mentioned in the work plan what will be done by the Commission each year during the plan period.
EC sources said that though a five-year plan, it would be evaluated every year.
