ECNEC okays Seven projects of Tk 3.94b

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) at a meeting Tuesday approved seven projects, to be implemented at a cost of Tk 3.94 billion (394 crore), reports UNB.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting at the ECNEC Bhaban at Planning Commission in the city.
All the seven projects will be implemented with government funds.
Among the projects, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University project in Gopalganj will be implemented by June 2013.
Briefing newsmen about the meeting, Planning Minister AK Khandokar said the university project was undertaken during the previous Awami League government. But, it was suspended by the BNP government at one stage of implementation. Now, we are going to resume its works immediately. It will cost Tk 910 million.
The other projects are construction of district registrar's offices in 20 districts and sub-registrar's offices in 63 upazilas across the country. Law Ministry will implement the project at a cost of Tk 1.30 billion.
Of the projects, the Roads and Highways Department will implement the Sirajganj-Raiganj Road Development project at a cost of Tk 380 million and Nazipur-Dhamurpur-Jaipurhat Road involving Tk 330 million.
