Election Commission (EC) served on Saturday show-cause notices on 10 more probable aspirants of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) for their alleged involvement in breaching the electoral code of conduct ahead of city corporation polls, reports BSS.
"The commission issued the show-cause notices to 10 probable candidates who have submitted nomination papers in the city polls in Dhaka South city corporation . . . They have been asked to reply to the show cause notices by today (Sunday) as they reportedly violated the rules of election," DSCC returning officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed told the news agency.
Since the announcement of city polls schedule, the show cause notices were served against a total of 68 candidates till yesterday, he mentioned.
He said in accordance with the EC rules, no candidate will be allowed to do election campaign or seek votes before 21 days of the election.
Meanwhile, some probable candidates are seeking votes through posters, billboards and festoons in total disregard to the EC's polls rules.
The returning officer said two mobile courts are closely observing the movement and overall activities of mayoral and councilor candidates of the city polls scheduled to be held on April 28.
