Elect a capable person

FE Report | April 27, 2015 00:00:00

Awami League backed mayoral candidate of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Annisul Huq urged the voters Sunday to elect a qualified person who is capable of serving their interests.

"You (voters) please think yourself. Mind that you are going to elect a mayor for yourself, and also for a safe and secured Dhaka city. And for this I request you to vote a person who is capable," he said while elaborating his election manifesto at  a community centre near Martyred Intellectuals graveyard at Mirpur section no 10 crossing in the city on the day.

"I believe I am the right person considering ages, experience and honesty," he said while winding up his electioneering on the day that he started 20 days ago.

He called upon the voters to cast their votes in favour of table watch symbol.

Former foreign minister Dipu Moni, former commerce minister Faruk Khan, joint general secretary of Awami League Mahbubul Alam Hanif, wife of Annisul Huq Rubana Huq, among others, were present.

Meanwhile Awami League backed mayoral candidate of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Syed Khokon said on the day that he would discharge his duties in a transparent way if elected.

"I will keep the Nagar Bhaban free from corruption if I am elected," he told the journalists on the last day of his campaign at Jatrabari crossing in the city.

He distributed leaflets to the people and requested the voters for casting Hilsha fish symbol on April 28.

"Whatever might be the results, I am ready to accept it. You please vote for Hilsha fish. My father had done a lot for the Dhaka city dwellers. I am also ready to do that for your (voters) interests," he said.
