Jatiya Party (JP) chairman HM Ersahd extended on Friday his support to the Saudi Arabia's air strikes in Yemen aimed at demolishing Shia rebels, Houthi, and allied military units, reports UNB.
The Saudi-led coalition has imposed an air and sea blockade on Yemen and targeted both rebels and military units loyal to former autocrat Ali Abdullah Saleh Saleh, hoping to eventually allow Yemen's internationally recognised President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to return to the country.
"I wholeheartedly support the responsible role of the Saudi government to uproot militants in Yemen. I think the menace of militancy would have spread to the Middle East if there had been no effort to demolish militants from peaceful Yemen," he said in a statement.
Ershad, also a special envoy to the Prime Minister, said the Saudi government has taken a time-befitting step to save Yemen from a disaster on the one hand while it is playing a vital role in maintaining peace in the Middle East on the other.
