PANCHAGARH, Nov 15 (BSS): Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad said there is no alternative to introducing provincial system to ensure good governance and administrative discipline in the county.
"A provincial government must be introduced in the country today or tomorrow as the central government alone cannot administer the country having a vast population."
He said these while speaking at a biennial district conference of the party as chief guest Sunday.
With president of Panchagarh district JP Advocate Kamiz Uddin Prodhan in the chair, the conference was addressed, among others, by JP Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, MP, presidium Member Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, MP, agriculture affairs Secretary Sultanul Ferdows Namra and joint organising Secretary Tarun Basu.
The conference elected Rezaul Karim Reza and Abu Saleh as president and general secretary respectively of Panchagarh district Jatiya Party.
Ershad said, "Jatiya Party is with the grand alliance. This is not a question of give and take but we take pride that we helped the grand alliance come to the power."
He said there is no scope to belittle JP as the grand alliance was formed after the joining of the party, he said adding that they would like to remain in the grand alliance.
