Bikalpadhara Bangladesh (BDB) president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury Friday said there would be no problem to revive the grand alliance taking HM Ershad and his Jatiya Party (JP) into fold, reports UNB.
"The JP is not a major problem. There are many other parties who are more corrupt than Ershad and his party," he told journalists at an Iftar party when new people joined his party in the city.
The iftar party was held at Bangladesh Photojournalists Association's auditorium in the city with BDB leader Aziz Akand in the chair.
Party's secretary general retired Major Abdul Mannan was also present at the function.
Badruddoza, a former President and once an influential BNP leader, demanded the government put proper security in place during the election so that voters could go to polling centres without any intimidation.
He also asked the caretaker government to stay on track in fight against corruption.
"As per their commitment the government should arrest criminals and bring the corrupt politicians to book for holding a fair election", he said.
Public Works and Housing Ministry's former chief engineer Mohammad Yousuf and Sromojibi Songram Parishad central president BM Nizam Uddin joined the BDB along with several dozens of people with various backgrounds.
