Ershad\\\'s first-ever visit to National Press Club

During his nine-year autocratic rule Hossain Mohammad Ershad could set his foot anywhere in the country he had in his mind, reports UNB.

But he succeeded Sunday when he was allowed to sit in the club's lounge during a visit to attend the namaz-e-janaza of eminent poet Fazal Shahabuddin, who was close to the former ruler.

Ershad, now the chairman of his faction of Jatiya Party and a member of parliament, ruled Bangladesh for about nine years until his ouster in a mass movement in 1990.
