The prosecution's closing arguments on the Radar purchase graft case faced by former President HM Ershad and others began Thursday at the special court in the city, reports UNB.

The court adjourned for Monday (June 2) the proceedings after hearing the prosecution argument in part that lasted for about two hours.

Public prosecutor Shahin Ahmed placed his arguments.

Advocate Serajul Islam stood-in for accused Ershad, also special envoy to the Prime Minister, now enjoying bail, remaining absent. The other two accused, former Air Force chiefs Sultan Mahmud and Mamtaj Uddin Ahmed, both now on bail, appeared in the dock.

Twenty-two years ago, now-defunct Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAC) filed the case against Gen (retd) Ershad and four others with Cantonment police on May 4, 1992. Abdus Sattar Sarkar, a former BAC official, pressed charges against Ershad and four others on October 27, 1994.
