Everything normal despite blockade, hartal: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu claimed Tuesday that a normal situation was prevailing in the country despite the nationwide non-stop transport blockade and hartal enforced by the 20-party alliance, reports UNB.
Mr Amu made the observation while talking to journalists after a meeting of the cabinet committee on law and order at the Secretariat.
Mr Amu, also the chairman of the cabinet committee on law and order, presided over the meeting.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, Expatriates' Welfare Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Law Minister Anisul Haq, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Civil Aviation Mnister Rashed Khan Menon, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan, State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Mojibul Haque Chunnu and high officials of law enforcement agencies attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said Tuesday BNP and its allies would not be allowed to hold any rally and programme until the completion of trial of those killing people during the ongoing hartal--blockade programmes.
