Ex-AL MP AKM Rahmatullah dies

Awami League Advisory Council member, veteran freedom fighter, and former MP AKM Rahmatullah has died, reports bdnew24.com.

He passed away around 3:45 am on Wednesday while undergoing treatment in the capital's Square Hospital, where he had been receiving care for a long time.

Mizanur, an employee on the customer service line for Square Hospital, said: "AKM Rahmatullah died in the morning. His family members took him from the hospital."

Rahmatullah's nephew Faruk Hossain said, "He died at 3:45 am today. After receiving the news, we went to the hospital and brought his body to his residence in Badda's Beraid."

Faruk also said the funeral will be held at the Beraid field at 4: pm on Wednesday before Rahmatullah is buried at the Beraid graveyard.

The former MP was also the former president of the Dhaka Metropolitan North unit of the Awami League.

A five-time MP, Rahamatullah was first elected as the Dhaka-5 MP on the Awami League ticket in the third parliamentary election of 1986.
