Ex-AL MP's associate Bakkar arrested in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 21(BSS): Police on Friday arrested Abu Bakkar Chowdhury (50), an associate of former Awami League (AL) lawmaker Mohiuddin Baccu, on charges of attacking the anti-discrimination student movement in the port city.

The Detective Branch of Chattogram Metropolitan Police detained Abu Bakkar, son of late Bochan Mia and a ward-level AL leader known to be close to fugitive former MP Baccu.

According to DB officials, he was arrested in a case filed with Chandgaon Police Station over attacks and gunfire targeting students and protesters during the July movement. He was later handed over to Chandgaon Police Station.
