Ex-BNP lawmaker among 11 BNP men chargesheeted

BAGERHAT, Sept 26 (UNB): A charge sheet was submitted against 11 leaders and activists of BNP, including former lawmaker MAH Selim, in an extortion case.
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar police station Sirajul Islam submitted the charge sheet to a court Tuesday.
Other accused are district BNP Vice President Ali Reza Babu, district BNP Organising Secretary Sheikh Nazrul Islam, President of district chamber and BNP leader Sheikh Shahed Ali Robi, Selim's personal accountant Hasibur Rahman Hasib, Raqibul Islam Raqib, district Juba Dal President Fakir Tariqul Islam and General Secretary Mehbubul Haque Kishore and Organising Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Tutul, Khadem Niamul Nasir Alap and Sheikh Shamsher Ali Mohon.
Most of the accused people are now in jail.
General Secretary of the local Red Cross and Red Crescent Society and contractor Didarul Alam Babul on June 7 this year lodged the extortion case with Sadar police station.
Selim was sued in a total of 14 cases here and in the capital so far.
