Ex-BNP MP Manjurul Ahsan Munshi gets 13 years

A Special Court in Dhaka sentenced detained former BNP lawmaker Manjurul Ahsan Munshi to 13 years in jail Tuesday and acquitted his wife and two sons in a graft case, reports UNB.
The court also fined Munshi Tk 6.50 million, in default, to suffer one year more in jail.
Judge M Ashraf Hossain of the Special Court, set up at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban to try bigwig corrupts, delivered the verdict after examining the prosecution witnesses and records.
The court also ordered confiscation of his wealth worth about Tk 6.50 million to the state coffer.
The Anti-corruption Comm-ission (ACC) filed the case with Gulshan police station accusing Munshi and his family of submitting a false wealth statement.
In the case, the ACC alleged that they amassed wealth worth over 53.70 million beyond their known sources of income.
