Ex-CMP commissioner Saiful, SP Tanvir held

Police have arrested former Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) commissioner Saiful Islam and Tanvir Saleheen Imon, superintendent of police (SP) of Sarda Police Academy, Rajshahi.

Saiful Islam was arrested from the capital while Tanvir Saleheen Imon from Sarda Police Academy. They were arrested on Tuesday following cases filed against them due to the controversial role during the July-August mass uprising against the fallen autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina.

A team of detective branch (DB) of police from Dhaka visited Rajshahi and arrested Tanvir Saleheen Imon from Sarda Police Academy.

He was promoted as SP in 2022. Later he was transferred as deputy police commissioner of DMP. Subsequently, he was posted at Sarda Police Academy, Rajshahi as police super (Basic Training -2) after the fall of the immediate past Awami League government.
