Ex-Ctg JCD leader shot after arrest

CHATTOGRAM, June 17: Police arrested a former leader of Jatiyatabadi Chattra Dal, the student wing of opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party, from Asian Highway Link Road of Bayezid area in the city early Thursday.

Later, he was allegedly shot in the leg by the police.

The injured is Md Saiful Islam, 34, a former assistant general secretary of Chattogram city unit of JCD.

Saiful is a resident of Burma Colony at Bayezid area in the port city.

Based on secret information, a team of police raided the Asian University for Women gate area on Asian Highway Link Road in the city.
