NARAYANGANJ, Nov 23 (UNB): A judicial magistrate's court here today granted a two-day third remand for former deputy minister Abdus Salam Pintu of BNP in connection with the bomb attack on Awami League office at Chashara.
Judge Arifur Rahman of the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court passed the order upon a petition submitted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The CID police produced Mr Pintu before the court at noon seeking five days' remand for him.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yusuf Ali Mollah, in-charge of Narayanganj CID camp and investigation officer (IO) of the case, said that during his previous remands Mr Pintu divulged important information about the bomb attack.
"He should be interrogated further for proper investigation into the case," he said.
After hearing the IO, the court granted two days' remand for Mr Pintu and also directed the IO to question him carefully as he is sick.
Earlier, the former deputy minister was taken on a five-day remand on November 15 and again on three-day remand on November 20 for questioning.
The BNP leader was shown arrested in the case on November 12 following a petition submitted by the IO.
