Ex-lawmaker Kamran Hossain Chy no more

Former member of parliament (MP) Kamran Hossain Chowdhury died at the age of 72 in the early hours of Wednesday. He had been suffering from heart ailment for a long time, reports UNB.

He is survived by his two sons, lawyer and columnist Umran Chowdhury and Ayman Chowdhury. His janaza was held after Maghrib prayers at Gulshan Azad Mosque on Wednesday, followed by burial at Banani Graveyard alongside his late wife.

Chowdhury was a member of the 4th Jatiya Sangsad during the Ershad regime.

He represented Faridpur-3, the constituency of the main town of Faridpur.

He was a member of the parliamentary standing committee on foreign relations and Chairman of Faridpur District Council with the rank and status of a deputy minister.

He was involved in setting up the River Research Institute in Faridpur and expanding the Jessore Road.
