Ex-lawmaker Saddam on remand

A Dhaka court on Monday placed former Nilphamari-3 lawmaker Saddam Hossain Pavel on a two-day remand in a case filed over the murder of Dhaka College student Mazedul Islam during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, reports BSS.

Metropolitan Magistrate M Mezbah Ur Rahman passed the order after a hearing.

Saddam Hossain was arrested from Lalmatia in Mohammadpur on September 4. A day later, Metropolitan Magistrate Partha Bhadra sent him to jail. Later, the investigation officer sought a seven-day remand, and the court set today for the hearing.
