Ex-minister Muktadir on remand

A Dhaka court has placed former Housing and Public Works Minister RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury on a five-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of BNP activist Mokbul, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order on Friday as police produced Chowdhury before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand in the case.

A team of detective branch (DB) of police arrested Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury from the capital's Mirpur area early hours.

Mokbul died from his injuries sustained in clash December 7, 2002 in the capital. The case was filed on September 30, 2024, against 256 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
