Ex-MP among 42 sued over attack on motorcade

BOGURA, Dec 13 (UNB): A case was filed accusing 42 persons including BNP-backed former lawmaker Mosharraf Hossain and some unidentified people on charge of attack on a motorcade of former lawmaker and current independent candidate for Bogura-4 (Kahaloo and Nandigram upazilas) Dr Ziaul Haque Mollah in the 12th national parliamentary elections scheduled for January 7.

The independent candidate filed the case against them with Kahaloo thana on Tuesday night.

Police, however, have so far arrested five BNP supporters in this connection, confirmed Selim Reza, 0fficer-in-charge of Kahaloo thana. On Monday afternoon, the supporters of the independent candidate came under attack

The arrestees were identified as Aftab, 35, Julfiqar Ali Rony, 29, Towhidur Rahman Pintu, 43, Ruhul Amin alias Malek, 43, and Shishir Rahman, 24, hailing from different areas of Kahaloo upazila.
