Ex-MP Awal gets bail in fraud case

A Dhaka court on Thursday granted bail to former Member of Parliament (MP) of Lakshmipur-1 constituency MA Awal in a fraud case filed with Kalabagan Police Station, reports BSS.

Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Ragib Nur passed the order against a bail bond of Tk 1000 after rejecting his bail petition.

Investigation officer (IO) of the case Sub Inspector Sultanuddin Khan filed a petition seeking three days remand for the sake of fair investigation into the case.

Awal, former Secretary General of Bangladesh Tarikat Federation and an elected lawmaker of Laxmipur-1 constituency in January 5, 2014 election, was arrested from Kalabagan on September 25 in connection with the fraud case.

Rajib Kaisar filed the case with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka on September 18 against three persons including Awal.
