Ex-MP Jabbar submits wealth statement

Abdul Jabbar, a former MP of Satkhira-2, submitted the wealth statements of his family to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday, reports UNB.

He submitted the wealth statements to ACC secretary Faizur Rahman Chowdhury at the commission's head office, ACC sources said.

As part of the inquiry into the allegation of illegal wealth accumulation by him, the ACC served notices on March 16 asking wealth statements of Abdul Jabbar, his wife Firoza Begum, and sons Faruk Hossain, Sayed Hossin and Mahbub Hossain.

On February 27, the ACC interrogated Jabbar on charge of acquiring wealth illegally.

On January 12, the anti-graft body launched probes into the allegations of unusual wealth accumulation by seven politicians, including Abdul Jabbar.

The ACC is conducting probes into the graft allegations against former Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan, former State Minister for Water Resources M Mahbubur Rahman, Enamul Haque, MP (Rajshahi-4), Abdur Rahman Bodi, MP (Ukhia-Teknaf), Aslamul Haque, MP (Dhaka-14), and Abdul Jabbar, former MP (Satkhira-2).
