Ex-MP Masud on 4-day fresh remand in murder case

A Dhaka court on Saturday granted a fresh four-day remand for former Jatiya Party lawmaker Masud Uddin Chowdhury in a case filed over the killing of a man during the July Uprising in the city's Mirpur area, reports BSS.
After completion of an earlier four-day remand, police produced him before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court. The investigation officer (IO) of the case sought a seven-day remand for further interrogation.
After hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Ismail granted a four-day remand.
Police arrested Masud Chowdhury on the night of March 23 from his residence in the city's Baridhara DOHS area.
He had earlier been placed on remand in another case involving allegations of embezzlement of Tk 240.00 billion (24,000 crore) and human trafficking.
