Expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat has been released from jail after he got bail in a corruption case filed against him by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
He was released around 4:30pm on Wednesday from prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) where he was being treated under the supervision of the jail authority, said Mahbubul Islam, jailer at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
Although Samrat was released from the jail, he will have to stay at the hospital for some days for his treatment.
Earlier on the day, Samrat got ad-interim bail in the graft case filed against him for amassing illegal wealth of Tk 29.4 million.
Judge of the Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka, Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman, passed the order after hearing a bail petition filed by Samrat.
