A senior minister urged on Thursday the countries which have granted political asylums to the convicted fugitive killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to extradite them to Bangladesh, reports BSS.
"What would you do if we had granted political asylum to the killers of the President or Prime Minister of your country? What would they do if the killers of American President John F Kennedy or Canadian Prime Minister had lived in our country? Would they have spared us?" Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury said.
Matia, also the presidium member of the ruling Awami League, came up with the remarks at a discussion on National Mourning Day.
Criticising those countries for their concern over human rights issues, the AL leader said, "They (foreigners) speak a lot about human rights issues. Where they had been when the assassins killed child Russel? Is human rights is only applicable for protecting their own interest?"
The minister urged those countries to hand over Bangabandu's killers to Bangladesh to show their true respect for human rights.
