Factional clash hurts 6 BNP men in Bogra

BOGRA, Apr 18 (UNB): At least six BNP activists were injured in a factional clash over forming ward committees at Mazira Bandar in Shajahanpur Upazila Sunday noon.
The police said there was a long-running conflict between Mazira union BNP president Azizur Rahman Bidyut and general secretary Jaherul Islam over forming ward committees in the union.
On Sunday noon Mazira union BNP leaders sat in their party office to form the ward committees. At one stage Azizur Rahman submitted a list of ward committees at the meeting that angered Jaherul Islam.
Later, an altercation ensued between the two leaders over the issue and at one stage their supporters equipped with sticks attacked each other outside the party office, leaving six people injured from both sides.
Among the injured, secretary Jaherul Islam (38), organising secretary Tofazzal Hossain (40), party workers Jahidul (34) and Shaheen (32) were admitted to a local hospital.
On information, the police rushed to the spot and quelled the situation.
