CHITTAGONG, April 17 (BSS): Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Friday free and fair city corporation polls are possible without deployment of army.
He said the government would render all-out cooperation to the Election Commission (EC) to hold the election in a free and transparent way.
"Previous city corporation polls were held properly. There was no problem. There would be no problem this time too", Quader assured.
The minister said this while addressing a views-exchange meeting with journalists at Chittagong Press Club (CPC).
In a query of journalists, Quader said the government will not interfere in the process of holding the upcoming city corporation polls in a free, fair and neutral manner.
The minister also said the government has earlier proved its immense neutrality during nine city corporation polls held under the Awami League (AL)-led government.
CPC president Kalim Sarwar, former president Abu Sufian and General Secretary (GS) Mohsin Chowdhury, among others, addressed the meeting.
