Defending his party chairperson's demand for disbanding RAB, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir branded Monday it as a killer force that could be hired, reports UNB.
"Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has now become a killer force that could be hired. They are claiming people's lives instead of giving them security. So, there's no need for keeping this force. So, our Chairperson's demand for disbanding RAB is justified and a timely one." he said.
He made the remarks while addressing a programme at the Jatiya Press Club arranged by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) protesting the shifting of trial venue of Khaleda's graft cases to a makeshift court on the Dhaka Alia Madrasah premises.
Fakhrul's bail extended
A Dhaka court extended Monday until June 17 the bail of four BNP leaders, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a policeman killing case, reports UNB.
Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Anwar Sadat passed the order when they sought permanent bail in the case appearing before the court on completion of their High Court bail.
The other leaders are BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, joint secretary general Amanullah Aman and Dhaka City Corporation ex-councillor Sirajul Islam.
