Fakhrul, Falu, Rizvi denied bail

A Dhaka court turned down on Sunday the bail petitions of three top BNP leaders, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in separate violence cases, reports UNB.
The two other BNP leaders are its chairperson's adviser Mosaddek Ali Falu and joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge (acting) KM Imrul Kayes passed the order after hearing the three separate bail petitions submitted by their lawyer Sanaullah Mia.
On January 4, miscreants torched a private car in front of Baitul Mamur Mosque at AGB Colony in Motijheel. A case was filed against 81 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists, including Fakhrul, in this connection.On January 5, miscreants hurled two crude bombs targeting a motorcycle of police sergeant Tanumoy Sikdar and set the vehicle afire near Paltan Tower on Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Sarani in Purana Paltan in the city. A case was filed against 51 people, including Fakhrul, in this connection.
On January 6, plain-clothes police arrested the BNP leader as he came out of the Jatiya Press Club after about 25 hours of stay there.
Besides, on January 28, a case was filed against Mosaddek Ali under the Special Powers Act in connection with crude bomb explosions and arson in Mirpur area on the day.
On February 1, plainclothes police picked Falu up from in front of BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office.
